The volume presents the empirical and theoretical work of the projects of the DFG priority program 'Mediatized Worlds'. Additionally, overarching ideas and considerations are discussed that further develop the significance of the mediatization approach as a whole, highlight the theoretical connections and embeddings to various source disciplines, and emphasize interdisciplinary links. It builds on a central characteristic of 'mediatization', namely the processual nature of the concept.
