The reproducibility of the MEP examination over time is good. For conservatively managed patients with cervical myelopathy, this examination is an essential safety factor to avoid overlooking a deterioration due to surgery. On the other hand, reproducibility is also a fundamental prerequisite for answering the question of whether the methodology allows for postoperative assessment. In the postoperative phase and with non-invasive procedures, determining the upper central motor conduction time and central motor nerve conduction velocity through MEP examination is suitable when there is a sufficiently clear question and adapted examination technique, due to the good correlation with the essential clinical criteria for further monitoring, especially when the preoperative results were clear. For the neurosurgeon, objective parameters for monitoring postoperatively are of great importance. If comparable preoperative diagnostics are available, the examination holds significant value from an evaluative or forensic perspective.
