The book "Methods and Procedures for the Verification and Validation of Artificial Neural Networks" offers a comprehensive introduction to the methods and procedures for verifying and validating artificial neural networks. It addresses the challenges associated with the verification and validation (V&V) of systems based on neural networks, particularly in safety-critical and mission-critical applications. Given that there are currently no standards for the V&V of neural networks, this work represents an important step in research commissioned by the NASA Independent Verification and Validation Facility. The author, Brian J. Taylor, presents promising techniques and methods relevant to the V&V of adaptive systems. This book is the first part of a series aimed at providing a comprehensive guide to the V&V of neural networks that aligns with IEEE standards for software verification and validation.
