The 200th anniversary of the cathedral chapter in Paderborn in 2023 is an occasion to shed light on aspects of its history for the first time in book form. After the turmoil of secularization and the Napoleonic era, the cathedral chapter of the High Cathedral in Paderborn was re-established on the basis of the bull 'De salute animarum' from 1821 by the Holy See and the then Kingdom of Prussia during the Kleinlibori Festival in 1823. The body, elevated to a metropolitan chapter in 1930, continues to oversee the celebration of services and the preservation of the cathedral to this day. Its members hold important positions in the administration of the Archdiocese of Paderborn and advise the Archbishop in his leadership role. In the event of a vacancy in the bishopric, it is the responsibility of the ten resident and four non-resident canons to elect a new archbishop. The contributions in the commemorative publication focus on the long farewell of the old cathedral chapter, which was dissolved in 1810, the re-establishment in 1823, and the development of its statutes. A key focus of the presentation is the biographies of all members of the cathedral chapter and the associated cathedral vicars since 1823. All staff members at the cathedral are also recognized for their various roles in the areas of liturgy and administration. The collected volume will be published for the anniversary celebration at the Kleinlibori Festival in 2023 and offers a well-founded insight into the rich history of the metropolitan chapter of Paderborn.
