Employee motivation is a topic that companies are currently addressing. Motivated employees are able to work more effectively and efficiently. In geriatric long-term care, it is particularly important to focus on employee motivation and satisfaction. Leadership in nursing places very high demands on managers and represents one of their greatest challenges. Unfortunately, geriatric long-term care receives very little recognition in society. This lack of appreciation and acknowledgment of the work done leads to employees in this profession often having a diminished perception of their professional contributions. Caregivers in elderly care need, since they receive no external recognition, appreciation and validation of their work from within.
