The book "Modeling Operations through Multi-Agent based Simulation" by Yasir Ayub provides a comprehensive examination of operational processes in container terminals through the use of a multi-agent based hierarchical model. The research presents an innovative approach that identifies four central agents integrated into various subprocesses. These agents enable a differentiated analysis and optimization of the operations occurring in a container terminal. To support the theoretical concepts, a software prototype has been developed that allows for the simulation of these processes in a web-based application. This application not only serves to visualize the operations but also offers decision-making support for terminal managers to control the efficiency and costs of the operations. Given the increasing use of container transport, this work is particularly relevant as it provides solutions to the challenges in managing container terminals.
