Not only since its first revelation over 1400 years ago has Islam, as a faith and civilization, fascinated and extraordinarily attracted countless people. From the second half of the 20th century onward, the Islamic faith increasingly drew notable personalities here in Germany. Undoubtedly, the former Director of Information at NATO in Brussels (1983-1987) and German Ambassador to Algeria (1987-1990) and Morocco (1990-1994), Dr. Murad Wilfried Hofmann, is among the most prominent of these converts in this country. Hofmann's international recognition is due not only to his countless speaking engagements both domestically and abroad but also, above all, to his books published in multiple languages. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious 'Islamic Personality of the Year' prize, becoming the first German to receive this honor. This book attempts to succinctly outline the extraordinary life path of this individual.
