Rico Scagliola and Michael Meier spent over two and a half years working with young people, creating an archive of photographs and videos that provides New Humans with insight. Today's youth represent the first generation that has grown up with the imagery of the internet. Self-representation platforms like Myspace and Facebook are second nature to them; they learn from an early age how to stage themselves in images. Meier and Scagliola utilized the visual sophistication and skillful self-presentation of the youth, integrating the images and fantasies they project into their visual cosmos. Documentation and staging become one. New Humans offers a unique glimpse into a world where images and life are increasingly intertwined - the homeland of Digital Natives.
