Product details

The Colombian Nicolás Gómez Dávila (1913-1994) described himself as a 'reactionary'. His thinking is an alternative concept to modern times and the Enlightenment. Dávila scrutinises everything that some of his contemporaries hold dear. The author is undoubtedly one of the most important political theologians of the 20th century. The fact that his work was only accessible to a small circle for a long time is mainly due to the fact that Dávila never paid much attention to its dissemination. In recent years, however, his works have attracted increasing attention. - Till Kinzel's book, first published in 2003, has established itself as the standard work on the Latin American thinker. It illuminates all the contexts of Nicolás Gómez Dávila's thought and is now available in its fifth, updated edition. 'Reading means receiving a shock, feeling a blow, encountering an obstacle', says Dávila in his 'Notas'. - Anyone who wants to understand the world of thought of the great philosopher will not be able to avoid this monograph.
