Product details
In 1920, on the third anniversary of the October Revolution, the "Storming of the Winter Palace" was performed in Petrograd with 10,000 participants. The mass spectacle under the direction of Nikolai Evreinov was a kind of false, deceptive reenactment. It was intended to remind us of something, the storming of the Winter Palace as the beginning of the revolution, which it itself theatrically and medially produced. This volume reconstructs the theatrical event with texts, photographs, and drawings and shows how, not only in the Soviet Union, the photograph of the theatrical "storm" became a historical document of the October Revolution.
