In Germany, two to four million people suffer from chronic wounds. The healing of these wounds is complicated by many factors, such as complex diseases. Conditions such as diabetic foot syndrome, leg ulcers, and pressure sores have been explained. Various therapeutic approaches are applied in the outpatient sector. For the first time, conventional modern wound care (impregnated, hydroactive gauzes, cotton compresses, etc.), hydroactive wound care (alginate, hydropolymers, etc.), and silver-containing dressings have been compared. Another therapy system, Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), has also been considered. The different conditions and various forms of therapy have been examined for the first time. Opportunities and challenges, as well as the economic aspects, have been highlighted, and a comparison between these individual therapy forms in the outpatient sector has been drawn.
