The Green Planet by Christian Heiss
Hal Jordan is back as Green Lantern – but nothing is as it was! The bearer of the green energy ring no longer races through the depths of space to protect distant planets and alien civilizations; instead, he is bound to his home planet, Earth. After the disappearance of the Guardians of the Universe, the founders of the intergalactic Green Lantern Corps, the United Planets have taken command of the intergalactic protection organization and, with one of their first decrees, declared space sector 2814, including Earth, a quarantine zone. Although Hal miraculously managed to forge a new energy ring from an old Manhunter armor, he cannot leave the blue planet with it. He also cannot rekindle his romance with his old flame, Carol Ferris, who is heading straight for marriage with her new long-term partner, nor can he keep his new job at Carol's company, Ferris Air, for long. It’s almost a blessing that Hal is distracted from these problems by the actions of his old arch-nemesis, Sinestro. The renegade former Green Lantern wants to leave Earth as quickly as possible to return to his homeworld, Korugar, but resorts to means that massively endanger human lives. When Hal confronts Sinestro, he suddenly can channel not only yellow fear energy but also the reddish power of rage... a troubling sign that the multicolored forces of the emotional spectrum are out of balance. Hal urgently needs to leave Earth to get to the bottom of these problems. But what really happened when the United Planets took over the Corps and Hal was banished to Earth?.
