Created during the reign of King Frederick II, Sanssouci Park has grown into a unique ensemble over two and a half centuries. With an area of 290 hectares and almost 70 kilometres of paths, it is Brandenburg's largest park. Sanssouci Palace with its terraces is the spiritual centre to which everything around it is subordinate - in the Baroque tradition. Paths laid out in a star shape and winding paths with ornamental and kitchen gardens, statues, fountains and ponds give rhythm to the area, which essentially bears the signature of Peter Joseph Lenné.
