"Pastoralism between necessity and the state" is a well-researched monograph that addresses the often-overlooked issue of protecting pastoralists in Northern Uganda. This publication demonstrates that the lifestyles and sources of income of pastoralists frequently do not fit into modern structures and legal norms. The author, Bernadette Iyodu, argues that attempts to adapt these communities to existing standards often lead to tragic outcomes. The work advocates for a different, rights-based approach to integrating pastoralists into society to address the existing problems in the region. Additionally, solutions are proposed based on the experiences of pastoralists in neighboring states.
