The protection of the personality of young people has gained new relevance in the current media environment. At the center of the discussions is the natural need for protection, which also touches upon the existing boundaries concerning conflicting press and freedom of expression rights. The author develops a concept that aims to achieve a careful balance between the conflicting interests and the personality rights of children and adolescents. The study is grounded in social scientific findings and the relevant evaluative principles, and is supported by comparative legal analysis. Through an examination of the problematic legal questions regarding consent and the weighing of goods and interests, the author outlines essential guidelines for the protection of minors against the press and on the internet.
