Product details
Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol (1809-1852) came from a Ukrainian landowner family and was friends with Alexander Pushkin, who inspired him to create several works. Having settled in St. Petersburg in 1828, Gogol initially found success with rural-themed stories. From the mid-1830s onwards, urban life in St. Petersburg became the focus of his interest, which he depicted in a series of often fantastical narratives. This volume includes the two novellas 'Nevsky Prospect' and 'The Overcoat,' as well as the extensive story 'The Portrait.'.
