The book "Phytochemical & Biological Study of Viola Odorata Cultivated in Iraq" offers a comprehensive investigation of the secondary metabolites found in Viola odorata L. The study is based on samples collected between April and July from a plant nursery in Baghdad. The focus is on the fractionation and isolation of stigmasterol and beta-sitosterol, two important compounds present in the plant. Additionally, the biological activity of these metabolites is examined, particularly their antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The extraction of these compounds is carried out from various plant parts, including roots, leaves, flowers, and seeds, using petroleum ether and methanol. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the compounds is performed using techniques such as thin-layer chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, and column chromatography.
