In practice, the assessment of educational needs often occurs on an ad hoc basis and is rarely comprehensive. As part of the development of a new qualification concept for team and group leaders at Lufthansa Flight Training GmbH, this trend is intended to be broken. Through a systematic and comprehensive analysis of educational needs and the formulation of corresponding learning objectives, it is possible to establish the foundation for a successful, needs-based continuing education program.

To better understand the analysis conducted in practice, the first part of the work lays a theoretical foundation. This is done with the aid of relevant scientific literature on the topic of educational needs analysis. A predominantly adult education perspective is adopted to illustrate the significance of educational needs analysis for corporate training, the factors that need to be considered during implementation, and the methods that are suitable for this purpose.
