The book "Radiation Pattern Reconfigurable Microfabricated Planar MMW Antennas" offers a comprehensive examination of the challenges and solutions in the field of antenna technology for millimeter wave (MMW) frequencies. Given the increasing migration of telecommunications services and radar systems into the MMW range, the work addresses alternative manufacturing technologies and materials suitable for these frequencies. The focus is on three specific applications: satellite communication systems in the Ka-band, wireless personal networks in the V-band, and automotive radar in the W-band. The authors analyze the advantages of planar antennas, characterized by their low profile, cost-effective manufacturing, and the possibility of reconfiguration. Additionally, various materials, geometries of transmission lines, and switches in the MMW range are examined to understand manufacturing tolerances and their impact on antenna parameters. Finally, two different designs of reconfigurable antennas are presented as practical examples.
