Product details
'Moguntia Aurea' - the 'Golden Mainz' was once the name given to the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate. This designation refers both to the glorious history of the city and to the magnificent buildings that have stood the test of time, such as the impressive cathedral with its long construction history and the Electoral Palace. Reminders of the times when the Romans established their camp here include the Drusus Stone in the citadel and the remains of the Roman theater. Today, one enjoys the summer life by the river in this Rhine metropolis. During the Fifth Season, costumed carnival-goers, shouting "Helau," sway and dance, transforming the streets into a grand celebration. In the Kirschgarten, half-timbered houses and a fountain create an almost perfect postcard idyll. The pulse of the city can be felt on the 'Lu' (Ludwigsstrasse), the promenade that was planned by Emperor Napoleon as 'Grand Rue Napoleon' between the cathedral and Schillerplatz. In the Mainz Neustadt, many squares, traffic-calmed streets, pubs, and cafés invite visitors. Around 200 images showcase the Rhine metropolis of Mainz in all its facets. Four specials cover the monumental cathedral mountain, the famous Mainz Carnival including the Rose Monday parade, the 'Man of the Millennium' - Johannes Gutenberg - and the many uniquely designed fountains in downtown Mainz. 'Journey through ...' is a series of illustrated books, professionally photographed by renowned travel photographers. Up to 230 images on 128 to 140 pages. Sensationally low price. All important sights. Culture and traditions. Informed texts. Detailed captions. Color overview map. Detailed index.
