The book "Social Exclusion among Scheduled Tribes" explores the various facets of disadvantage and exclusion processes in primary education for indigenous peoples in India. It analyzes the complex interactions among the main actors in the education sector – children, parents, teachers, and the state – and illustrates how these factors contribute to a cycle of exclusion. The study is based on extensive field research in the Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh and offers new perspectives on the challenges faced by children from Scheduled Tribes. The work aims to foster a better understanding of the educational disadvantages these groups experience and to address the structural issues that hinder their educational outcomes.
