The book "Soft Computing Based Intelligent Control Systems and Applications" is an expanded version of the author's dissertation, Cheng-Hsiung Chiang, which focuses on the design of intelligent control systems based on soft computing. It presents three approaches for lifelong learning control systems that can adapt to different environments by adjusting their rule bases, such as fuzzy or symbolic rule bases, online. These adaptive mechanisms mimic human behavior and possess capabilities for introspection, self-criticism, and exploration. The first two systems, SEICS and mSEICS, focus on adaptability through the automatic adjustment of their fuzzy control rules. The third system, SCICS, aims to emulate the human creative process by going through four phases: creative goals, creative process, creativity measurement, and knowledge transformation.
