A summer day that begins radiantly beautiful but ends up changing everything – that is the day Annika's cousin Ginie disappears.

Just moments ago, the two were lying in the sun by the gravel lake, and now Annika, along with her friends, wanders through the stormy rain in a desperate search for Ginie, who had just gone into the bushes for a moment. What happened to Ginie? Did someone harm her?

As the tension rises, so do the mutual accusations; stories emerge that Annika had no idea about, and soon a terrible suspicion arises: Is someone from the group responsible for Ginie's disappearance?

Kristina Dunker, born in 1973 in Dortmund, studied art history and archaeology in Bochum and Pisa and worked as a freelance journalist. At the age of 17, she published her first book. Since then, Kristina Dunker has written numerous children's and young adult novels and has received several awards and scholarships for her work, including the Young Literature Prize from the city of Voerde.

"Writing is still the most exciting and beautiful work I can imagine; when I sit down with my manuscripts, I laugh, suffer, and worry with my characters and hardly notice how time flies." Kristina Dunker lives as a freelance author in Castrop-Rauxel and regularly offers readings, workshop discussions, and writing workshops for young people.
