Spiky in the Dreamland of the Mountain Gorillas is the 2nd part of the successful book project Spiky's Dream Journey to Africa, by the Bernese children's author David Weidner. For many years, the young educator David Weidner has been personally committed to education in Uganda. Together with Afrika Rise e.V., which was founded by Culcha Candela member Johnny Strange, David Weidner actively supports the expansion of the EDI Buwere Vocational College. Weidner regularly travels to Uganda on a voluntary basis to help with the construction and expansion of the vocational school. Together with supporters such as FC Thun, he has already successfully organised sports days with valuable donations of materials for the students on site. When the pandemic hit and the Bernese was unable to make his trip to Uganda, Weidner came up with the idea of writing and designing a children's book in cooperation with the EDI Buwere Vocational College. A short time later, "Spiky's Dream Trip to Africa" was published in November 2021. Now it is time for the journey of the little hedgehog Spiky to continue. In cooperation with the vocational school in Uganda, David Weidner created new illustrations that take Spiky on a journey to the dreamland of the mountain gorillas. Not only does "Spiky in the dreamland of the mountain gorillas" tell the journey of the little hedgehog, but the children's book also contains exciting information and profiles about the animals, so that the young readers also learn more about the animal world of Africa. Since the author works on a voluntary basis and donations for the production of the second part of the story were collected with the WeMakeIt project, all proceeds from the sale of the book can be donated in full to the Edi Buwere Vocational College in Uganda.
