Increasing customer demands, international cost pressures, a growing variety of products and variants, as well as decreasing product life cycles are leading to a reduction in the time window for generating profits and shortening the payback period for product development costs. Against this backdrop, ramp-up management is becoming increasingly important, with the goal of reducing the time to market and ensuring a smooth transition from development to series production in order to achieve high volumes and product quality as quickly as possible. Due to the current corporate situation of Daimler AG, there is a shift in capacities from process optimization to ramp-up optimization. In this context, the Ramp-Up Management team was established at the beginning of 2009. The team's task is to support production in operational business regarding the ramp-up and to create process transparency. The aim is to secure processes early on and systematically eliminate disruptions from Job #1 to enable a rapid achievement of the target line.
