The book combines sermons and meditations on the epistles of the New Testament and texts from the Old Testament. The sermons were delivered in congregations of the Herford church district, many in Laar, Herford. The cover image comes from the Resurrection Church in Laar. It depicts the altar and church windows: on the left, the baptism of Jesus by John, in the center, the resurrection of Jesus, and on the right, Jesus and Nicodemus. The Easter window illustrates Jesus' victory over death and violence. In the Easter sun, in the blue of the sky, in the white and yellow of heavenly light, the figure of Christ rises, drawing us into the movement of a parable, infinitely breaking through the boundaries of space and time, while also taking the form of a chalice, a reference to the Last Supper. The sacrament of baptism is explained by the windows depicting the baptism of Jesus and the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus. The sermon is committed to the method of correlation. Questions of our lives are posed. In the biblical message, we discover answers. Conversely, the biblical message poses questions that we should find answers to in our lives.
