In times of rapid developments and advancements in the entire information technology sector, optimizing processes and increasing efficiency is a ubiquitous topic. Due to continuous innovations from companies or new legal requirements, SAP systems must be regularly updated to the latest version with support packages or releases. To ensure smooth operation for customers, the systems must be thoroughly tested for errors and contractually agreed functionality after new elements are implemented. Test automation can save about 30% of the manual workload during error checking and streamline affected business processes. At the same time, human error sources are minimized, and comprehensive documentation is ensured. Technical possibilities, theoretical concepts, and implementation scenarios are analyzed in this work in a clear and practical manner, making them understandable even for laypersons.
