Tucholsky could "supply texts to such disparate districts as a Nelson revue and a militant cabaret", wrote Max Herrmann-Neiße. The years 1921/1922 prove it: he was one of the authors of Trude Hesterberg's Wilde Bühne and provided the texts for two large revues, for which Rudolph Nelson wrote the music. At the same time, he wrote what is probably his best-known anti-war poem, "Drei Minuten Gehör" ("Never again war!"), which was recited at rallies in Berlin and throughout the Reich on 30 July 1922, and yet at the same time it was called "Ach Muse, pack up the red flag!"In large articles, he urged peace, warned against the resurgence of militarism, against covert censorship and partisan justice, against femicide and readiness for a putsch. The Rathenau assassination and the assassination of Maximilian Harden confirmed Tucholsky's view - but reality was to far surpass his gloomy vision of the future ("German Judge Generation 1940").
