The Dialectical Forge is a scholarly book that identifies dialectical disputation (jadal) as a central dynamic force in the development of pre-modern Islamic legal systems. The author, Walter Edward Young, emphasizes the importance of dialectics and positions it at the forefront of Islamic legal studies. By introducing a dialectic-based analytical method, the book examines the parallels and differences between Aristotelian dialectics and early jadal theory.
