"The Discourse of Opposition" is a comprehensive examination of the political discourse of the opposition, with a particular focus on the Muslim Brotherhood during the Egyptian parliamentary elections of 2005. The book analyzes the hidden ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood as conveyed through the rhetoric of the movement's general leader, highlighting how these ideologies are reflected in language. By applying Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as an interdisciplinary approach, the process of data analysis is deepened. In particular, Systemic Functional Grammar, especially transitivity, is examined and applied. Additionally, various linguistic tools, such as the choice of lexemes in the context of positive self-presentation and negative other-presentation, as well as overlexicalization and dysphemism, are incorporated into the analysis. This study thus provides a profound insight into the hidden ideology of political opposition in Egypt.
