The history of the Stoltzenberg chemical factory until the end of the Second World War
German, Henning SchweerProduct details
This book presents the history of the chemical factory Dr. Hugo Stoltzenberg from the founding of the company until the end of World War II (1922/23-1945) and provides a brief overview of the post-war history, which lasted until 1979. The chemical factory became known for its involvement in illegal chemical weapons projects of the Reichswehr in Russia and Spain during the Weimar Republic, as well as for the connection of its founder, Hugo Stoltzenberg (1883-1974), to the German chemist Fritz Haber (1868-1934). The name of this Hamburg company is associated with two scandals, the so-called Stoltzenberg scandals of 1928 and 1979. The first was triggered by the release of a toxic gas cloud on the company premises. In the second incident, three children were injured while playing with chemicals discovered on the company grounds.
