The daily radioactive massage protects the face from wrinkles and indefinitely preserves the freshness of the complexion. A few years after the discovery of radium in 1898, the new radioactive element and its radiant decay products made an unprecedented career in the fields of medicine and cosmetics. In Europe and America, radium baths were established for treatments with slightly radioactive water. Additionally, a growing range of various household items with added radium was developed: water heaters, insoles, hair tonics, creams, toothpaste, eye masks, genital pads, cat fur cushions, lipsticks, band-aids, baby powder, and much more. These items were indeed radioactive and were marketed with the promise of miraculous healing and rejuvenating effects. Alongside them, there were non-radioactive pseudo-radium products.
