The book "The Quality of Accreditation Standards for Distance Learning" by Sultan Alarifi examines the quality of accreditation standards for distance education in Saudi Arabia (KSA). By applying benchmarking methodology, it compares these standards with frequently cited quality models for online learning as well as with the standards from countries such as the USA, the United Kingdom, and Australia, along with peer countries in Asia (South Korea, Malaysia, Sri Lanka) and the Arab region (Jordan and the UAE). The study analyzes the differences and similarities in the regulations for distance learning accreditation between these eight countries and KSA. Additionally, the validity of the standards is verified through a survey of experts. The results indicate that the KSA standards demonstrate a high quality overall compared to other countries. The stringent regulations for distance learning accreditation in KSA are highlighted, and recommendations are made to policymakers in KSA to adopt some of the standards and regulations from aspirational and peer countries. Further recommendations are directed at various stakeholders, including universities, instructional designers, and program directors.
