The generalist nursing training aims to combine the previous training programs in elderly care, nursing, and pediatric nursing, so that with the new professional qualification, specialists can work in all areas of care. The fact is that this has long been the case, even without this reform. There are concerns that the generalist nursing training will not be a solution to the nursing shortage but could actually exacerbate it by focusing on nursing care. Social care has long had a generalist approach. The training includes health and nursing care, elderly care, and educational care. However, textbooks and instruction primarily focus on elderly care. This is very limiting for social caregivers when they pursue further training outside of elderly care or work in other areas of nursing. This book addresses all three professions, explaining the theoretical foundations of professional nursing, such as nursing models or documentation, in a way that is as simple as possible but not simplistic, and also covers the fields of educational care. It also considers often neglected but important topics such as counseling work, family caregivers, sustainability, or violence in care. This makes the book interesting for caregivers who already have training but wish to transition to other areas of nursing.
