In the collage series "Tristesse Royal" (2010), the artist populates the cold spaces of schools and authorities with underwater creatures from illustrations in Meyers Konversations-Lexikon, allowing children to play in dream worlds. "They are trapped like in an aquarium. A state on the threshold between being a member of normative society and the fantasy world that we can only recall with the help of art," Draschan explains. "The children do not know what a horrible world they are being raised into: domestication, learning to sit, submission, becoming consumers, subjects, capitalists.".
