The translation studies colloquium is a lecture series organized by the Department of Translation, Language, and Cultural Studies at the University of Mainz in Germersheim and the Institute for Translation and Multilingual Communication at the Technical University of Cologne. This volume brings together selected contributions on the topics of translation, linguistics, and semiotics that have been presented in this context. It addresses forms of immediate contemporaneity in various languages, the naming of realia and their translation, the characteristics of multimodal texts, as well as film semiotics.
