Heinrich Christian Wilhelm Busch (April 15, 1832 in Wiedensahl; January 9, 1908 in Mechtshausen) was one of the most influential humorous poets and illustrators in Germany. His first comic strip was published in 1859, followed by a book of illustrated tales in 1864. By the 1870s, he was already considered one of the prominent figures in Germany. At the time of his death, he was regarded as a classic of German humor, having achieved great popularity with his satirical comic stories.
