Wolf Erlbruch, born in 1948, studied graphic design and worked as an illustrator in the advertising industry before he began writing and illustrating children's books at the end of the 1980s. He is professor at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. In addition to numerous awards, Wolf Erlbruch received the Gutenberg Prize of the City of Leipzig for his complete works and the special prize of the German Youth Literature Prize in 2003. Werner Holzwarth was born in 1947 in Winnenden near Stuttgart, where he attended school up to secondary school and completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. Afterwards he completed his studies in Berlin with the degree of Diplom-Werbewirt. From 1973 onwards, he worked in various advertising agencies, first as a copywriter and later as creative director. From 1980 to 1982 he stayed in Bolivia and worked as a freelance journalist for Stern, Spiegel and Die Zeit, among others. After his return to Germany, he continued the advertising work and founded his own advertising agency with two partners in 1990. Since 1995 he has been Professor of Visual Communication at the Bauhaus University Weimar.
