Especially in the field of stationary long-term care, multicultural nursing teams can be found. However, the mere presence of several caregivers from different cultural backgrounds does not automatically lead to appreciative interaction. This work highlights the development from multicultural to transcultural nursing teams. The collaboration of several caregivers from diverse cultural backgrounds involves potential for conflict, which is why this study investigates which aspects promote and hinder this collaboration. In addition to a literature review, a qualitative interview study is conducted with caregivers of migrant backgrounds from the field of Austrian stationary elderly care. The analysis of the interviews is carried out using the Grounded Theory method. The interviews demonstrate the impact of successful onboarding, as well as the personality and competence of individual caregivers, on collaboration and team development. Possible approaches for targeted intervention are discussed.
