The classic regulatory model of the social market economy has lost none of its relevance and appeal 70 years after the founding of the Federal Republic. Yet, the calls for an ecological advancement are growing louder. An intensive debate on the further development of the social market economy, which aims for a genuine balance between economy and ecology and focuses on the problems and challenges of the 21st century, therefore seems more necessary than ever.
