Product details
Sitting in the still damp grass, feeling the warmth of the ground, and nostalgically recalling a childhood pleasure—such impressions, full of sweet melancholy and sprinkled with a touch of starlight, are conveyed by Kerstin Rammelt in her sensitive poems. Whether it’s a child’s laughter or an old pair of shoes, it is often the small, hidden things that the author captures in her heartfelt, free verse. With short melodic lines, she creates a mental space that describes thoughts empathetically, without fully exhausting them. It seems the poet wants to convey that there is always just a fleeting impression of the senses that can never be fully grasped. Now and then, the author also becomes somewhat more drastic, louder, as when she writes: "I refuse to live copies of unique days for the rest of my life." It becomes clear that Kerstin Rammelt not only lyrically depicts what she sees but also demands something from life—namely, life itself and the collection of unique impressions that she may process in further poems. Additionally, it becomes evident that all the "terrible companions" like fear and sorrow cannot be absent in such an active life. Yet the lyrical self also confronts these painful emotions. Because what matters is: "I have run ... and I have lived my life up to this day...".
