This led the retired Protestant pastor Klaus Grammel to the decision to write a book about Christmas, exploring its historical development, its changing meanings, and what it personally means to him. Time and again, he struggles with this endeavor, despite interesting insights, sometimes veering off the direct topic. Klaus Grammel is thus both the author and the protagonist.
