Neglect and misjudgments by governments and international communities, along with the opaque world of churches and corruption, complicate the fight against the mafia and other criminal organizations. The indirect promotion of donations almost suggests a normalization of piracy, human trafficking, prostitution, and drug smuggling. The mafia in Nigeria, in this case, the Black Axe, skillfully and brutally exploits these aids to expand its network, generate enormous profits, and strengthen its power. Additionally, the tolerated illegal immigration of so-called migrants through various routes, primarily across the African continent and over the Atlantic and Mediterranean to Europe, exacerbates the situation. It is highly concerning and therefore very alarming that Islamist sleepers may be smuggled in, possibly disguised as migrants.
