The Federal Centre for Health Education regularly examines trends in adolescent alcohol consumption as part of its drug affinity study. According to this research, the practice of binge drinking has increased over the past decade, in contrast to the number of adolescent consumers. This work aims to shed light on the motives behind alcohol consumption among young people and to investigate the sustainability of the self-help prevention project "Wandelhalle Sucht" in Leipzig through a conducted survey. A total of 185 students were surveyed using a questionnaire regarding their own alcohol consumption and their participation in the project in 2009. Taking into account the empowerment approach, the project-related role of the social worker is presented in detail, highlighting their specific activities. The focus is on resource activation and tertiary relapse prevention among the addiction-affected organizers of the prevention project.
