Product details

Through the reusability of artifacts generated during a software development project, significant savings can be achieved in both new development and the maintenance of existing solutions. Although reuse sounds very promising, there are still issues that prevent the full potential of this methodology from being realized. This paper investigates the application of knowledge management in the area of reuse to determine whether it can help solve the problems associated with reuse. To this end, the fundamentals of knowledge management and software reuse are first discussed. Then, it is demonstrated how knowledge management can be practically applied to support reuse. Ultimately, these methods and tools are applied to a case company that actively practices reuse. This work is aimed at all those working in the software industry.
