Theories on the topic of women and economics have a long philosophical tradition. Part of it is the analysis of the philosophers Barbara Smith Bodichon, Charlotte Perkins Gilman (Herland, The Yellow Wallpaper) and Olive Schreiner. They not only prove that women are not unproductive appendages of a single parent. On the contrary, they show that women do the most productive work of all, producing human life. Women are part of economic activity, whether through unpaid domestic work or as workers and employees.
