Andreas Leffer's study addresses the fatigue behavior of embedded headed shear studs in solid concrete slabs. It examines the upcoming proof concept for demonstrating fatigue as part of the harmonization of European standards using a deductive approach. Two-field composite beams are presented under a realistic loading sequence. A newly developed measurement method allows for the precise description of the successive failure processes along the non-statically loaded composite joint. From the beam tests, Wöhler curves (fatigue strength curves) are derived, which enable the assessment of service lives using elementary static methods to calculate the occurring stud stresses (nominal stress concept). Additionally, Wöhler curves are introduced that can be used based on a nonlinear calculation considering stud compliance. In both cases, the Miner rule can be applied as a linear damage accumulation hypothesis, although a distinction must be made between the type of loading (reversed or fluctuating loading). Based on new, displacement-controlled push-out tests, an analytical relationship is derived to describe the cyclic material behavior, allowing for the direct calculation of the nonlinear stud forces considering stud compliance and slip growth with a given or measured slip progression, essentially by hand. Furthermore, these tests contribute to the development of an independent, new design concept (local concept) in its initial stages, which is based on the reference parameter of slip. The analytical approaches of the well-known local concept are transformed for this purpose.
