Sigrid is a doctor living in Oslo, in the big city. She just wanted to get away from the village where she grew up and had to witness her father's physical decline while she was pregnant with Mia. Mia's father, Jens, also a doctor, left her before the birth. With the down-to-earth Aslak, she begins a new life.
