1. Karup Design Tatami
The authentic, superior quality tatami mats are carefully crafted in the traditional Japanese style. It starts by creating a core of rice straw, naturally kiln dried and compressed to the specific standards of the Japanese Agricultural Society and the United States Department of Agriculture. This core is covered with a silky smooth surface made from first grade, long rush grasses, tightly woven and then stitched with multiple lines of yarn to provide the precise tension required for comfortable support and restful sleep. Made from renewable resources, the tatami mats are environmentally friendly and durable enough to last up to 20 years with proper care. 2. Karup Design Basic
This basic futon is an 11 cm thick cotton mattress with a PU foam core. These futons have a higher density and thickness than traditional Japanese futon beds, but offer all the good properties of a traditional futon. The Basic futon offers you medium-firm sleeping comfort. The cotton in the futon moulds to your body and supports it, while the foam core isolates slight movements.

The Comfort futon is a 15 cm thick cotton bed mattress with a PU foam core. The addition of 5-10% polyester to the cotton ensures a higher density and thickness of the futon compared to traditional Japanese futon beds. Nevertheless, it still has all the good properties of a traditional Japanese futon. The comfort futon offers you medium-firm sleeping comfort. The cotton in the futon moulds to the contours of your body and supports it, while the foam core isolates slight movements. Please note that all futon products are handmade and you may therefore notice small differences in size and weight.
