Do I understand correctly that the difference to the predecessor - apart from the design - is the display of a colour gradient? I mean the last version could only shine holistically in one colour. Thank you

If by the old version you mean the "Signe" (without gradient) then yes. This version can be set to 3 colours and then lights up with dynamic transitions.
